She co-founded MJM International with her then-husband Michael in November 1996.Mone debuted the Ultimo lingerie brand at London’s Selfridges department store in August 1999. Mone had the idea for the Ultimo bra, the brand’s first product, while wearing an uncomfortable cleavage-enhancing bra one day and believed she could create a more comfortable cleavage-enhancing bra.
After discovering that Mone had authorized electronic bugging of his office, a former operations director for MJM won a claim for unfair dismissal from her company in 2014.
MJM International was then dissolved. Mone sold a 20% stake in Ultimo Brands International to partner MAS Holdings in November 2014. Mone resigned as a director of both MJM and Ultimo in August 2015, claiming to have sold 80% of the latter.
